![]() Iv had to do this before for other games that dont have a dedicated option. join and profit with your very janky dediserver. make yourself friends with that account and set it to friends only. get the character somewhere real out of the way (like the crash site can work or the pods) sleep in the bed so u keep spawning there, and let that character die infinitely. if you can find a machine for free( yes its possible, i have even found servers grade boxes and switches for free if you look hard enough) that means you would only be splitting the 20 for the gameģ: setup new pc, install some remote management software on it, setup world backup( can be done through a simple batch file or freeware), install steam with a seperate account and install SMĤ: run it and set the gfx settings as low as possible. got 3 friends? 40 bucks each, 6? thats only 20. 100 bucks for the pc (iv found em for as low as 50). My site got rid of close to 800 pcs, out of which at least 100 or so were i7 machines with 8gb of ram and upgradable)Ģ: get a second copy of SM. the only solution at the moment would be the following:ġ: Get a office pc from a liquidator or recycler or online (there are a large amount now due to the windows 7 EOL that companies waited until last minute to complete. I used to run a dedicated MC server off one of the rackbox in my house, it doesnt need a huge amount of resources if its just for some friends. Ark has the official servers but thats the ones THEY have running, and why do ya think they are doing season passes and adding more and more paid DLC to a $60 game? Point is, Dedicated servers probably require a lot more than what ya may think Not only that, they require server commands and permissions for the players in it(for example you and 2 friends are building a house and a unknown guy spaws in and blows everything up) Minecraft has dedicated servers yes but you have to pay a monthly charge to keep it running. The issue with dedicated servers is they require maintanance. I just have no desire to play multiple save files just because work shifts or days off differ. It would be fine in a game that wasn't a base building and crafting game. I don't want to be forced to play my own game session just because someone else isn't online. Minecraft has dedicated servers for a reason. I just want to be able to hop in and out of a persistent world whenever I want to so all my friends can play even if we aren't all online. It's something that is a requirement for a game like this imo. Originally posted by Johnny Wolf:I have never played a survival crafting game without dedicated servers.
